I Saw Death

I saw death
saying: how many of dreams have I stopped from becoming true?

I hear death
Looking at: each soul as he toggles through the earth.

Then, I saw man
dancing: to the pleasures of his desires

O man, what have you put forth for tomorrow?
For a time will come when you’ll be no more.

I saw man
saying: when I finished buying this, I’ll also buy that. _spending on things that’ll profit him not.

Then, I saw death
Saying how many of achievements have I passed to a new owner?

I saw man
Saying: How well have I worked, being better than my neighbour, to have achived all this feat, a mansion, luxury of cars and good children?

I saw death
Saying: how many of children have I taken away in front of their parents?

I saw man
fell, on his struggle to success, wailing so much then lost his way.

I saw death,
Saying: shall I take you away now, or you’ll pick up yourself and stop wailing?

I saw man
Saying: we have been blessed with the power, the strength and the prowess, who would dare take it away from us?

Then, I saw death
Saying: how many of powerful men have I stumbled upon, how many have I taken with me?

I saw man
Promising his beloved heaven on earth, oasis in the desert and a peaceful lake.

I saw death
Saying: how many of promises have I stopped from being fulfilled, how man of those promised have I taken away with me?

Then, I saw man
Saying: tomorrow I’ll get married, give birth and live a meritorious life.

I saw death
saying: how many of dreams have I stopped from becoming true?

So let this be a lesson, to be heeded well,
To live life to its fullest, before death’s final bell.

Appendix
Death: in this context was used as a transition state between “being” and “not being”. Simply as, when something is currently happening or existing and nature brought a sudden change, the first state being terminated, another may rise, or not.

The poem is really good and well-penned, it is just like panic of growing older by lenrie peter
The choice of words is simple and easy to understand even by a lay man

Thank you for reading and dropping a note. I’d surely check the Lenrie’s poem out.
